Course Description

The excitement for, and research base supporting, mindfulness based therapies has grown exponentially in recent years. Yet finding fun, playful, and engaging practices for child and adolescent therapy remains a challenge for many of us. In this course, therapists will learn how to bring mindfulness to young clients and caregivers, including in a telehealth context. It will explore simple awareness, breathwork, movement, games, play, and creative activities for all ages.

Learning differences, cultural differences, developmental differences, and more all affect how children learn best. This course includes ways to tailor techniques to a range of issues, including depression, anxiety, executive function challenges, trauma and stress.  Different practices will engage different interests, including arts, sports, games, music, technology, and more, for attention spans ranging from 30 seconds to 30 minutes.

Total running time 94 minutes. 1.5 Hours CE. Recorded Video Format (non-interactive).

Content Advisory: To protect client confidentiality, case examples may include fictionalized elements.
