Recorded from a live presentation on September 24, 2020 |
Course description
Therapists, social workers, and other mental health professionals routinely work with clients voicing stress and anxiety about finances. However, mental health professionals often have little training on personal finance, limiting their ability to fully understand clients' situations.
Mental health professionals also receive conflicting socialization around money, including messages that they should devalue money and place greater importance on service. This can lead clinicians to impose or project their own values around money onto clients for whom those values may not fit.
Led by a financial therapist, this workshop will teach attendees what financial anxiety is, and how they can apply their breadth of skills specifically to help their clients with financial anxiety. The presenter will also encourage therapists to develop awareness of their own biases around money.
