Course Description
Individuals with emotion dysregulation disorders experience challenges managing emotional, behavioral, and cognitive stress. They may engage in dangerous, life-threatening behaviors, such as self-harm and substance use, to manage the intensity of their experience. In this course, participants will learn to identify such disorders, and gain a working knowledge of therapeutic strategies within the Dialectical Behavior Therapy framework that enable clients to more effectively regulate intense emotional experiences. This course helps therapists to work from a DBT-informed perspective even in contexts where a comprehensive DBT program is not available or appropriate.
