Course Description

Eating disorders have the highest mortality rate of any mental illness.  It is estimated that 1-3% of women will struggle with anorexia, bulimia, or binge eating disorder in their lifetime (National Association of Anorexia Nervosa and Associated Disorders, 2017).  Specialized training is needed for mental health professionals who intend to work with this population. Historically, treatment has focused on ridding clients of their perfectionistic tendencies in treatment. However, positive treatment outcomes are seen when the goal is shifted to harnessing the individual’s desire for high achievement while quieting their critical inner voice. This course will demonstrate how effective treatment interventions focus on creating realistic reframes, softening the inner critic’s voice, focusing on progress not outcomes, exploring the grey area, and practicing self-compassion.

Total running time 93 minutes. 1.5 Hours CE. Recorded Video Format (non-interactive).
